Bought for a friend’s femKirk costume. There “ugly” side with the screws is on the right, but if you’re left handed (like my friend), then it won’t be an issue. (I chose to fill the holes in with hot glue and will be painting the phaser)Pros:sound – as long as you’re holding down the button it makes a steady phaser stream noisenice size, though probably fits in smaller hands a bit betterthe nob on the back of the phaser, shown blue and white in the picture, has numbers on it and can turn, so you can “set” the stun/kill levelCons:Not much, as far as I’m concerned, I mean I knew it was going to have wonky colors, so that was expectedIf you’re right handed, then the ugly side will be showingWorth noting – the smaller phaser part on top that is commonly used as a separate piece in the tv show does not remove.

If you want a one-and done purchase that also looks like an accurate phaser this is not for you. The colors are what you see in the picture, very cheesy and strange and not at all like the phasers from the show. The great thing about this is that the shape and scale is perfect and with some painting this can be turned into a very nice prop or replica without spending $50+ for a premade model. I bought this knowing that it would take some work to make it look the way I wanted. I used acrylic paint from Joann to really help it shine and the paint bonded well to the plastic. In the end I’m very happy with it and I’ll be happy to use this Phaser for cons. I’m glad I didn’t spend a fortune to have one.

I was actually amazed. The purporions are very good, small minor details not correct, but not enough for me to care….double surprised that it makes phaser sounds. Of course the paint job is horrible. I guess that’s what they make masking tape and spray paint for…..lol. The plastic is fairly sturdy, I expected thin plastic like on a cheap water pistol. It’s just heafty enough to feel ok in your hand, and light enough to Velcro to your uniform, if that’s what you want it for (cosplay). I will probably affix a clear tube on the end and install a led light that activates with the trigger. I plan on getting a few more and fix em up, for gifts for some of my friends.Sum up: Well worth the money. Would give it a five stars if it was painted correctly….lol.

This is a nice toy with one sound effect. The price was a bit high but if one is a true fan, I’m sure it can be painted to resemble the real thing for use in cosplay or at a Strar Trek convention (if those ever come back). My two year old loves running around the house and zapping things with it.

Physically a near perfect 1 to 1 scale model of the classic phaser model 2 phaser from Star Trek. When button pressed unit makes the classic phaser sound. Unit is colored bright orange and blue. Will need to be painted in order to look more accurate. Good for cosplay or for just for fun.

A nice and inexpensive replica to mod however the plastic is very thin so care has to be taken when cutting and filing.

Okay, the default colors are horrible- but a little paint can fix that. More importantly, it’s looks to be the right size and shape, AND it makes the cool phaser sound! Really happy with this purchase.
