I purchased both the male and female Klingon costumes by Rubies from amazon. [Purchased early for our big annual costume party while costumes are on sale]. I’ve reviewed the men’s too.My comments are the same for both of them. The costumes themselves are OK. These are the “deluxe” costumes because they have quilted accents and the arms of the tunics are black “fur”. However, they run small. The women’s costume, for example, says that it fits up to size 14 and I think that is JUST barely. The over-the-head tunic is narrow and a size 14 might need help pulling it down. The big disappointment, though, is the mask. See the picture on this page, which also appears on the costume packaging. See how long and lush the Klingon hair is? Well, on neither the men’s nor the women’s costume does the mask’s hair look anything remotely like that. It is sparse. It is scraggly. It is thin and applied in a single row of patches rather than all over the “head”. It barely comes down to your neck, much less past your shoulders. It is so sparse that it doesn’t cover your neck or the “view” of where the mask ends on your neck. It is crap.I kept both costumes because I plan on making my own modifications – one advantage of getting the costumes so far in advance. But as this wasn’t a super cheap costume, and the pictures are so misleading, it is lucky to get three stars./////////////////////////////08/12/2011I’d like to add something to my original review. I bought two dark brown 21-inch hair extensions with a drawstring type base (and included clips, which aren’t used), link below. Two of these pony-tail extensions are needed for one mask. Using a glass head (which I use to display masks) to keep the mask in a head shape while gluing, I glued these two extensions to the mask, starting way up on the crown just in back of the straggly single row of “hair” the mask comes with. The drawstring for the extension is in a closed circle. Do not cut it, as the doubling up in the center back of the head is needed for full coverage; otherwise you’ll have a huge “part” down the back of your head. I had to glue one extenstion at a time, and each extension was glued on in stages, waiting for one stage to dry before starting the next stage.I used a metal glue, made for models, and it worked perfectly. (Metal glue smells strong, so open some windows). It wasn’t hard to do, and with two of the extensions meeting in the center at the back, there is lush full-head coverage. The smooth hair looks EXACTLY like it does on the costume package. I am very happy with how it turned out, but, of course, this increased the cost of the costume overall. And you have to get the costume ahead of time to give yourself time to do this. Dark Brown Extra Long Ponytail Hair Piece Fashion Source HSHP 030 Also, I cut off the nose cover part of the mask. It really looked silly. For some reason, on both the men’s and women’s masks, the brown Klingon forehead bumps were highlighted in pale green! I concealed all the green by going over it with a dark brown felt-tip marker.I have pale skin, and used water based “professional” makeup to transform into a Klingon: Cover your whole face and neck in a dark purple base. Go over the dark purple with a dark brown. Line your eyes with a thick black edge. Use make-up or dark lipstick on mouth. This costume was so much fun! The mask was fantastic and the padded dress was very “outer space”. I added my own boots and since the hair was a little more sparse than I wanted I bought a $4 wig and pinned it on top. I used brownish make-up on the skin of my face that showed and I received compliment after compliment. This sale item was the “bargain of the year” for me. I gave it 4 stars because the picture on the package is a misrepresentation – it shows much fuller and longer hair than is included. I had fun with the custume, though!

The costume arrived in good time and it is comprised of a tunic top, skirt, belt and a head piece. The cloth in the tunic has some padding and skirt needs a cool iron to remove the wrinkles. Overall the outfit is good. It fits up to a size 12 (US). The head piece has very little hair and the nose is uncomfortable, so I will remove it. There is yellow coloring on the forehead and I took another reviewer’s advice and used a brown marker to cover it. It is a good costume, except for the head piece.

I took a chance on this costume even after reading the prior bad reviews. Big mistake. The gloves do not come with the outfit, the belt is completely different and the hair in the picture is practically non existent. It is one line of sparse matted light ash colored knotted disappointment. The scalp is maroon with green circles on it. The nose is ridiculous being way too large and sticking out too far from the face. I cut it off. I am a size 5 and the arms were tight so I have a very hard time believing that the outfit can fit up to a size 12. The neck piece is suppose to be velcroed in the back. When I did this the front of the shirt section pulled back and I felt like I was being choked. I had to buy hair extensions and hand sew them onto the scalp. Without using the Velcro the shirt and skirt were the only saving grace for me. I have a lot of work to do on this before I will wear it again. Basically going to remake it.

It fit well and looked good. I am very pale and the forehead–nose part of the costume was much too dark for my skin and I did not want to put on that much makeup. It would be nice if they had the forehead with light and dark color options. The silver fabric was very thin so I needed to wear something underneath it. The hair part is thin. If you want the hair to look at all like the model, you will need to purchase a half wig.

This was a very disappointment and the quality sucked for the price I paid. It was a total waste of $40. I have ever spent. If it was not for the kids event I would not had made do with the costume. I couldn’t get into the top it fell apart when I try it on. I wore the bottom and the mask was uncomfortable it gave me a headache before my night was over. The hair length is nothing as the picture shows it was shoulder length with very little hair in the back of the head more on the side a bad joke. I had to add more hair to give it a better appearance. I am very displeased with this product.

Wasn’t able to choose a size but it said it was a Dress Size 12…I’m a 10 so I was fine with that. It came a little on the small side, for a Size 12, but it’s doable. Hate the forehead/hair…forehead was raspberry in color and barely had hair. The little hair that was attached is shorter than my own hair.
